World Book Day

The junior classes enjoyed a digital storytrail to celebrate World book day. They heard the story of ‘After the fall’ by Dan Santat which tells the story of what happened to Humpty Dumpty after his famous fall and how he overcame his fears. Special thanks to our bookclub members Cleo, Caitlín, Róisín, Maya, Robyn, Cara, Sienna, Máiria and Laura for recording the pages during their lunch break earlier in the week.

Hurling / Camogie

Hurling/Camogie training will commence for all classes. We are delighted to welcome our new CDO, Andrew Power, to our school. Andrew will be with us every Monday until the end of the school year. Please remember hurls and helmets and wear appropriate footwear to school.

Olympic Handball

Recently our boys and girls u11 Olympic handball teams competed in an Olympic handball tournament in Killanin hall. We had two boys and two girls teams competing on the day. All four teams put in a tremendous effort and each one of them made it to the semi finals on the day. The girls teams were very unlucky not to make it to the next stage after narrow defeats in both semi finals. Both boys teams competed very well also but had mixed results in the semis. One team lost narrowly while the other team progressed to the next round with a brilliant victory.

The boys team that qualified got another day out in Cappagh hall where they competed against more teams from around Galway. Again they put in a tremendous effort and won two group games and drew the third one leaving us in a semi final against Belclare. The game went all the way to extra time and we were unfortunate to lose by a single goal in the end.

Everyone seemed to really enjoy the Olympic handball tournaments and they competed very well against various schools from all over Galway. Each child played really well and they should be very proud of their efforts.
