Rang a 4 / Fourth class

Reading challenge

Posted on Updated on

In Rang a 3 and Rang a 4 we have been very busy taking part in our very first reading challenge and we are very proud of the results. The children were set a challenge to read 5-8 books each over a period of 4 weeks. The children had so much fun choosing books from various different authors and recommending books to each other. They worked very hard to complete this challenge and at every opportunity would pick up a book and read for the sheer enjoyment of reading. The results are incredible. The class succeeded in reading 267 books during the four week time-frame.  There were many authors that grew very popular amongst the children. The children were very proud when receiving their certificates. We can now conclude that the most popular authors in our class are Francesca Simons, Jeff Kinney and Michael Morpurgo. The children also read 145 books from other authors such as David Walliams, Roald Dahl, Jacqueline Wilson, Holly Webb, Rachel Renee Russell and many more. I think you will agree that the children have developed a keen interest in reading and many children have continued to read over the Christmas holidays.
We have also been very busy making stockings and are very pleased with how they turned out. I have included some pictures of the finished products
