Rang a 3 / Third class
In Rang a 3 and Rang a 4 we have been very busy taking part in our very first reading challenge and we are very proud of the results. The children were set a challenge to read 8-10 books each from Halloween to Christmas. The children had so much fun choosing books from various different authors and recommending books to each other. They worked very hard to complete this challenge and at every opportunity would pick up a book and read for the sheer enjoyment of reading. The results are incredible. The class succeeded in reading 363 books during the eight week term. There were many authors that grew very popular with the children and are shown below on the graph. The children were very proud when receiving their certificates. We can now conclude that the most popular authors in our class are Francesca Simon, Jeff Kinney, Liz Pichon, David Walliams, Jim Smith, Roald Dahl and Holly Webb. The children also read 145 books from other authors such as Michael Morpurgo, Lucy Daniels, Chris O Dowd and many more. I think you will agree that the children have developed a keen interest in reading and many children have continued to read over the Christmas holidays.
