First Holy Communion Party

Congratulations to all of the Second Class children who made their First Holy Communion this year.

The Parents Association, along with the 3rd class parents, were honoured to be involved in the party in the Halla Mór afterwards for the children and their families. This party gives the opportunity for families to connect with the school community, and the children to spend time with their friends before their family celebrations commence.

The Parents’ Association would like to thank all of the 3rd class parents who volunteered to bake food, decorate the hall and serve tea and coffee to the communion party guests. This party could not happen without the support you kindly offered.

A special thank you goes to Centra, in particular Eleanor Kyne, who kindly donated the contents of the party bags for the communion and choir children. The generosity of this donation was greatly appreciated.

Scoil Mhuire is lucky to have two very talented teachers who own the Balloon Boutique. Sandra & Nora Ni Dhonnacha’s beautiful balloon centrepieces were the highlight of the decor in the Halla Mor. They also donated the lovely balloon display at the entrance. I have included their details below for anyone who has an upcoming event.

And of course, none of this would have been possible without the hard  work of the Communion Party Committee: Audrey Trigg, Arlene Cooke, Sinead Valla & Elaine Newell.

Thank you

Keeping Childhood Smartphone Free

The parents association are currently working to devise a smartphone agreement whereby parents choose to sign a form stating that they would not allow their children to own a smartphone while in primary school. A survey has been sent out to all parents to gauge interest in this measure,if you haven’t done so, please complete the survey by clicking on this link.

The parents association are following guidelines as detailed in the Department of Education document “Keeping Childhood Smartphone Free”, click on the link to read this document. Keeping Childhood Smartphone Free

Table Quiz

Scoil Mhuire Parents Association are delighted to announce our first Table Quiz. This will be held on Friday 15th March in Regan’s Bar at 8pm. €40 for a table of 4. Raffle on the night with lots of spot prizes.

New Parents Association

The parents’ association has been recently reactivated and we are writing to introduce ourselves and extend a warm invitation to get involved. So far we have Elaine Newell (Chairperson), Anna Parkinson (Secretary), Aisling Gormally (Treasurer), Audrey Trigg, Angela O’Toole, Loretta Croke, Kim Ryan, Michelle O’Connor, Olivia Traynor, Sinéad Valla, Gillian Hunter and Petrina Mulligan.

Ideally we would have a parent from each class involved so that the views and opinions
of all are represented.

The good news is that all committee positions have been filled so you can come to the next parents’ association meeting without fear of getting a job! Our next meeting will be
on Wednesday, 6th March at 8pm at school (first prefab on the left). This meeting is open to everyone to attend.

We are currently compiling a list of ideas for how the Parents’ Association could best work to promote the interests of students (and also help parents) in Scoil Mhuire, e.g.
fundraising events, talks, social events, volunteering at school occasions, fundraising for extracurricular activities. We would love to hear your thoughts and opinions, please
email any ideas to pa.secretary@moycns.ie

Sincerely,

Scoil Mhuire Parents Association
