Our fundraiser – The 20K Drop

Cairde Scoil Mhuire Nua 20K Drop

Scoil Mhuire’s main fundraising event for the 2018/19 school year took place on Friday 9th November at 8pm in the Galmont Hotel. 20K Drop was a tremendously successful fundraising venture for our school, due to the overwhelming (but unsurprising) generosity of our exhibitors, advertisers, sponsors and supporters and also to the sheer hard work and dedication of the Cairde Scoil Mhuire Nua Fundraising Committee.

The event in the Galmont Hotel was very well attended and all present were treated to a great night’s entertainment and fun.

Pallas Marketing put on a great show, whereby 8 contestants, chosen at random from the audience, attempted to win up to €2,500 in cash, a difficult and at times hilarious task. Items such as a Galway Hurling Jersey, signed by the players were auctioned and a raffle, consisting of a variety of excellent prizes, was held at the end of the night.

The 20K Drop surpassed our most optimistic expectations in terms of the money it generated for our school building fund, bringing in a very impressive total of over €35,000.

Our school would like to offer our most sincere thanks and appreciation to our Main Sponsors, AIB, Lynch Auctioneers, O’Toole Transport, Smyths Toys, Supervalu Moycullen, Sweeney Oil, Teaghlach Uilinn, The Forge Moycullen and Yourell’s Hair Group.

We are also very grateful to our 135 advertisers for their generous support of our school.

Our school owes a huge debt of gratitude to our fundraising group, Cairde Scoil Mhuire Nua, which consisted of the Cian McNamara (event coordinator) and Paddy Byrne of the Board of Management, Colm Griffin, Mary Boyle, Edwina O’Toole, Barry McCann, Maura Duignan, Teresa Lydon and Renee O’Connor, all of our amazing Parents’ Association and Louise McKiernan, Amy Duggan and Aisling Sweeney of our School Staff. Finally, and very importantly, a sincere thank you to all our ticket-sellers, both from among our School Staff and our Parent Community, and to you, Parents and Friends of Scoil Mhuire Moycullen, for buying tickets to the event and supporting our fundraising efforts.Cairde Scoil Mhuire Nua was founded with a single purpose in mind: to generate the funds necessary to provide our children with the new school they so badly need and so richly deserve. Thanks to your help and support, we have taken a huge step along that path.Go raibh maith agaibh.
